Public Member Commissioner – Y. Kafi Moragne-Patterson

Dr. Kafi Moragne-Patterson is a Chicago native and serves as the Executive Director of the IMPACT Leadership Development Program and Senior Vice President of Leadership Programming and Philanthropy at the Chicago Urban League. In this role, she sets the vision for one of Chicago's premier leadership development programs, cultivating the civic leaders the world needs now more than ever. She also serves as Senior Advisor at Conlon Public Strategies, bringing her expertise in organizational strategy and community engagement to nonprofit work across the region.

In the civic arena, she serves as a Trustee for the City Colleges of Chicago, a Commissioner on the State of Illinois' Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission, and a board member of the UChicago Consortium on School Research, the Chicago Community Trust's African American Legacy initiative, and the Leadership Greater Chicago Fellows Association Board. Her career has been defined by a sustained commitment to isolating and dismantling educational inequity, previously serving as Senior Program Director of the University of Chicago's Inclusive Economy Lab, Vice President of Program Quality, Innovation, and Evaluation at Chicago Scholars, and Director of the University of Chicago's Community Service Center. She continues to serve the University as a lecturer.

A proud alum of Kenwood Academy, Dr. Moragne-Patterson holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology and Africana Studies from Vassar College, a MSW from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a PhD from the University of Chicago's Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice.
