Alternate Public Member Commissioner – Tameka Walton

Tameka Walton continues to serve as a Member of the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission. Walton is the Founder and Executive Director of Restored Hope, a Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and girls to move beyond cycles of violence and trauma through healing-centered, trauma-informed programming. Previously, Walton served as Executive Director of Strive Tutoring. Walton also serves as Vice Chairperson of Chicago Survivors; a multicultural crime victim services organization. She has spent more than 15 years working at the intersection of community wellness, education, and social justice. Walton earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and a Master of Social Work from DePaul University.
